“To promote an interest in and appreciation of the art of quilt making. To share quilting information and education. To stimulate high standards of design and technique.”
In 1985, a group of 19 women who had an interest in quilting and a desire to meet with others who shared similar interests founded the Gold Coast Quilter’s Guild. Today, with a membership of 200, the focus on quilting and the community continues to grow.
Our local community is an integral part of our life. Through our Quilts for Caring and Pillow Pals programs, we distribute quilts and soft pillow pal dolls to children and adults who are in need of comfort and warmth in our community. We honor our Veterans through our Quilts of Valor committee and the distribution quilts to the Veteran’s Administration in South Florida.
Through the sponsorship and participation in quilt exhibits throughout the area, we educate others on quilting - both traditional and art quilt forms. Our recent exhibits include the Rosen Gallery in Boca Raton, Florida and The Mancuso’s World Quilt Florida in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Our monthly evening meetings on the third Tuesday of every month take place at 7 PM at the Boca Raton Community Center. Many nationally known and well-respected teachers speak at our meetings.
Our monthly workshops are led by both nationally known teachers and our own very accomplished members. From our committees (mystery quilt, orphan blocks, block of the month, donation quilts, tag sale, bake sale, auction, Care 2 Share) , to our Quilt Bees, Library, Quilt Camp and Quilt Retreat, the ideals established 30 years ago by 19 women continue to grow and expand at the Gold Coast Quilter’s Guild.
We hope that you'll take the time to learn more about our group and the art of quilting!
Membership dues are $45/ year. There is currently a waiting list for membership, but guests are welcome to attend during the summer months for a nominal fee.
